A week in the life...
... of Inga Rose, Managing Director
New Year, new you?
Now's the time to sit back and reflect on all that was good, bad or indifferent in the past year and make heartfelt resolutions for the coming one. Like most people, I always set my goals with total conviction in January, only to find life overtaking me by 1st February - when I can't help laughing as each and every promise is abandoned or forgotten. This year, at least, I have the prospect of Easter sunshine (and more importantly the thought of being white and wobbly in a swimsuit) to help me stick to that diet.
For Air, 2012 brings exciting developments. We're starting the year on a recruitment drive, introducing an Account Manager to the team. As a small agency, it's always with a big gulp when you take the leap and expand, but despite the gloomy economic forecast, the opportunities for Air are increasing and now is the time for us to ensure we are ready for them. Being a small team, it's vital that our new member has the right personality. After eight years, we know what works and more importantly, what doesn't. So beaming smiles, enthusiasm and a sense of humour are always high on the list.
I'm hugely curious to see what kind of impact the Olympics have this year. There's been so much rumour mongering within the hospitality industry, but the reality seems to be that the games will offer fewer opportunities than we all originally envisaged. The official guidelines from LOCOG with regard to associating yourself with this magnificent event in any way, shape or form will leave you racing for a lawyer. As such, clients' great expectations for the fruits of London 2012 have become just gentle hopes for some peripheral entertainment.
Still, the buzz around the capital during the next few months is going to be immense and I can't wait to be part of it. We won our golden tickets to…wait for it…beach volleyball (exactly how much my husband bid for that one I'm not quite sure) and rowing. No matter what kind of impact it makes on all of our bottom lines (no pun intended), we don't normally have the opportunity to experience many genuine 'once in a lifetime' experiences - so I for one will have my Union Jack held very high indeed.
